This is my favorite responsible ad I found. I realized that I usually only see ads involving lungs if it's dealing with smoking. I find the subject of the environment to of this ad to be on a higher level of importance than smoking. Without trees and plants producing oxygen humans along with every other living thing will no longer exist.
I think this is a powerful ad. It is a very important issue around the world especially in Third World countries where AIDS, other diseases, or genocide is wide spread and many children are left alone.
I never really thought about this subject until seeing this ad. So much of what we eat is not grown here and is being shipped in boats and trucks to our supermarkets. This is one reason why supporting and eating locally grown produce is the best!

I was disgusted when I saw this ad. It is so insulting and offensive that Colors of Benetton, a clothing store, would come up with such an ad. It makes light of a very serious and heartbreaking situation that families unfortunately battle with every day. (The man with AIDS also coincidentally resembles Jesus...? I'm not sure what to think of that.) It may be a little different if this image was for an AIDS awareness campaign but a clothing store is entirely unacceptable and inappropriate.
This is a clearly a racist and very offensive print ad. As you can see the powerful white business man is standing proud as all the "typical" black men look like athletes. If thats not enough they are also all kneeling before the the white man.
Here is another racist ad this one for McDonalds Southern Style Chicken. It is insinuates that since it is called a "Southern" style chicken that you have to be a black and from the south... This is disappointing considering that McDonalds has had quality work in the past.
I found this advertisement for Shweppes by Y&R Melbourne to be incredibly beautiful. It had the colors, music, and motion that made it mesmerizing. Watching the balloons slowly explode is so cool you can't look away. The music was absolutely perfect with the scenes and the movement of the balloons. This is the kind of commercial that attracts every one to gather around the television, which makes it almost impossible to have one single target market. I really think everything in this commercial is beautiful that I do not know what could be altered to make it any better than it already is!
I LOVE this commercial for so many reasons! It is a perfect for attracting people to watching Discovery Channel because the images are incredible, and it also serves to remind the avid Discovery Channel watchers how wonderful it is. My favorite element of the ad is, hands down, the song. It is so catchy, it sticks in your head for the rest of the day. It's great because it isn't a typical commercial jingle thats cheesy and gets annoying fast, this is original, upbeat, and makes you feel good inside. I think it's perfect.
Jung Von Matt, Germany
This is a super creative non-traditional advertisement! Who ever was behind this idea is GENIUS!! Not every one who goes bowling will probably ever need dental implant insurance, but it is so well noticed that this is the kind of ad that will spread fast through word of mouth. This is an awesome idea, by far one of my favorites on the blog.
La Comunidad
This agency is ran out of Buenos Aires, Argentina and from seeing this ad I would think they are a pretty creative agency. I found this commercial to be really ridiculous and funny. The things they said were SO goofy I could not help but laugh at all the bizarre things coming out of their mouths.
Modernista
I really like this ad for the music and the visuals in this ad. It doesn't have any fancy effects, but I think it effectively gets the message across that Cadillac is a very detail-oriented company and makes every vehicle such with such attention.
AMV/BBDO
This is a very simple, yet creative print ad. I like that it is so much different from most beer ads that have either girls or college boy jokes in them. It is unique for that and also has a clever design, incorporating glasses of Guiness as the blades of a fan.
Rethink
I really enjoyed watching the advertisement in Ad. Literacy, so I decided to add it to this as well. The idea of having rats come in your home and pick find your junk is hilarious, but in reality it is probably accurate to what a rat really would do which is what makes it even funnier. The screaming reactions of their customers are also priceless.
Strawberry Frog
I have to admit, I first wanted to find an ad for this agency because I love the name! After seeing some of their ads I also found respect for their super creative work. I have always been intrigued on how the rest of the world obsesses over soccer (or futball) and America doesn't really get it. I thought it was so neat how every one who saw the ball thought naturally to kick it. It was amusing and fun to watch, especially for a beer commercial!
Mother
This is a parody from a classic scene of one of my favorite movies, When Harry Met Sally. It is no surprise that I thought this was very funny and entertaining. However, since it is a parody from a movie made a while ago, I'm sure there are younger audiences that are confused and don't completely understand the scene. Overall though, I think it is successful for the product!
22squared
I really do not like this print ad for Buffalo Wild Wings. I am so sick of looking at ads of food in a shape of an animal. It may have been creative the dozen times I saw things almost identical to this, but now it is so over used I am sick of it. Doing work like this makes the agency look mediocre and even though I haven't looked at much of 22squared work I'm sure they do great things, but by judging from this ad I would not believe it.
David & Goliath
Dear Kia, STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO LUXURY CARS!!! I am sooooo tired of seeing Kia or Hyundai or Mazda commercials that constantly compare how they are equivalent to a Lexus or Mercedes. I do not understand why they even waste their time doing that when they are not a direct competitor to a luxury car in the first place. If you are going to compare try Hyundai or Mazda. Or better yet, JUST TALK ABOUT WHY KIA IS AWESOME. This reminds me so much of the Pepsi vs Coke discussion we had in class. Pepsi always compares themselves with Coke in their commercials, but Coke doesn't compete with anyone and is still much more successful. So, maybe Kia should take a lesson from that.
I love seeing all the great things that Weiden and Kennedy is doing with the Old Spice account. All of the TV spots are entertaining and this is the first print ad I had seen from them. I did not understand it at first, before reading the tag line at the bottom. It presents the problem well though, no guy wants to be the weirdo with chunks of deodorant under their arms.
Dentsu
This ad was much longer than any I have seen in a while. It was however interesting to watch, I like the art direction and the music that went along with the scenes. I still am confused on how that commercial had anything to do with Toyota. Maybe he is in the chair the whole time because that's what you're in while driving a car..? Despite the strange meaning I thought it was a cool commercial to watch.
BBH
Levi's jeans is one of the first accounts that BBH received on opening their agency, so it is no surprise that there ads for them have gotten better and better over the years. They have made Levi's not just another pair of jeans, but a cool and sexy lifestyle. The ad is also produced very well and seeing this for the first time, it is a little confusing on why there are hurdling through walls, but the line at the end, "freedom to move" closes the gap.
Richards Group
If you are from Texas you have deffinently come across the Chick fil A cows billboards or other print ads. It has become a little over done in my opinion, they have begun to run out of clever things the cows can say, and now I think the campaign is just too old and over used now. It is good idea for a campaign, but we are all so OVER IT!
Doner Canada
In this Mazda promotion they are giving away $500 to all grads that purchase or lease a vehicle. There is no doubt that this is a funny advertisement, but I do not think it is a good way to position Mazda. It makes the car seem like it is only worth $500 and that it only for young party animals. I think that doing this campaign they are repelling a lot of other potential older, more mature customers.
Cramer-Krasselt, Chicago
This was humorous, and makes a good point for the company. Even in last minute situations you can depend on airtran to give you a good deal on flights. I think this is a very relatable ad, not necessarily this exact situation, but sometimes we all get caught up in something and just want to jump in a plane last minute. For instance, my family always plans trips the last minute, and I am sure we always get screwed over with a higher price because we booked so late.
If you have not been able to tell from my previous posts, I really like watching animals in commercials. I thought it was a nice play on the idea of the chicken sandwich having "kick." It only makes logical sense for a spicy chicken sandwich to come from a chicken that literally kicks, with even more strength than the karate kid!! Hilarious, pretty creative, and much enjoyed.
VitroRobertson
I think this commercial is very edgy. I absolutely HATE people who think it is okay to talk on their cell phones or text constantly in the middle of a conversation or at certain important events. What made it so shocking was that it was not just at a business meeting, it was at a funeral! I could not believe that he answered his phone, but I was so relieved when the squirrel jumped on his face! Cell phone karma should be a real thing.
Cliff Freeman and Partners
I think this is a very effective print ad. It is a little shocking and unexpected as far as public service announcements go, but I think that since it is for AIDS awareness, it is appropriate. It deffinently catches the attention of readers and gets them thinking of AIDS.
Kirshenbaum & Bond
This ad does not really impress me too much. It doesn't make sense to me. If the joy is riding in or driving the BMW, why do you have to jump in the car in some crazy or extreme way??? I think the message at the end contradicts the advertisement itself. I think to make the ad more effective it should be more focused on driving the car and experiencing joy, rather than doing weird things and jumping in.
This ad translated means "come as you are". I think this is cute and completely true. McDonald's is a VERY casual fast food chain they do not care what any one looks like coming in ( even Darth Vader) as long as they're willing to pay for some food! It is very light-hearted and simple. I find it very amusing.
Arnold Worldwide
I think this commercial is good. I like seeing a commercial for alcohol that does not involve attractive people out dancing at a club. Instead, Arnold focuses on tradition and quality, which I think is very important in regards of hard liquor. I think that the target market for Jack Daniel's appreciates the type of spot that they made for the product.
McKinney
I found this to be a very creative print ad. I think the writing involved is clever and very funny. It's nice to have good writing like this where you do not have to think too hard to understand the print ad, but it does involve some knowledge of casual (maybe even pop or street) language.
I do not think this is the best of Malibu's MALIBOOM BOOM campaign, but still pretty fun to watch. I like how they show all the different people who are dancing to their radio show, even dogs! I think this type of commercial suits well for the product. Malibu is a rum and showing two islanders endorsing the product and having a good time with it really makes the product seem legit. If actual people from the islands enjoy Malibu, you know it has to be good!
Saatchi & Saatchi Malaysia
I got a kick out of this commercial. I think it Saatchi & Saatchi successfully directed to this spot to their target market for the product. It's aim is a typical young men, and I felt that all of those ideas came straight from a guy's head. Robots, gorillas, cave men, everything was right on. Ending it with an attractive girl is of course the only way a man would give up the beer.
Leo Burnett
This is great! This advertisement is a little risky, but I think it works. It's hard to tell from the beginning what the product is. First seeing this I thought for sure it had to be a "what happens in vegas, stays in vegas" ad, but I was wrong! It is shocking and surprising to learn that it is only about paint. This shock value made it a memorable product.
Fallon London
I did not understand this commercial at all. It is somewhat entertaining to see their eyebrows wave to the beat, but not as much to make me want to ever watch it again. Basically, everyone loves chocolate and there are SO many other, BETTER ways to advertise it. Overall, disappointing and not about the product at all.
Kaplan Thaler Group
These commercials have what I think every think is them, humor, information, a story. People cannot help feeling sad for the lonely old mop, but seeing what all the great things the swiffer does is awesome. I think that it reaches a wide target market because it is good-natured humor every one can laugh at.
Team One Warsaw
I thought this was really dumb. However, it was one of the only Team One ads I could find online that was not in Spanish, so it had to do! I thought it was very stupid, but I can see how some people may find it funny. Better work next time Team One?
I saw on youtube that this XBOX commercial won a Clio Award in 2008, so I decided I should watch. Unfortunately, I have never played Halo before so I was VERY confused throughout the whole thing, until I had someone explain a little bit about what was going on. Despite that I still do not really know what's going on in the ad, I can see why it won that award. The scenery is so murky and creepy and the man in the ad plays the part extremely well.
Campbell Mithun
This print ad for Nature Valley Fruit Chips is very aimed toward the target market. Generally, people that eat fruit chips want to know that they are a natural snack and all the prints in this campaign show the snack in such light. Not only does it look natural and healthy, it is simple and easy to understand.
Mullen
This commercial shows how helpful the company is with accommodating it's customers, which is extremely important with a shop that is solely ran online. However, I did not like it at all. Is there anyone who likes looking at people puppets? They're scary!! I understand why they would want to do more than just having to people talk on the phone, but they should have come up with a better idea. I think that two regular humans on the phone with each other would have been a much better alternative.
Deutsch
Snapple has always taken the approach of claiming to have the "best stuff" in there drinks. This is the first ad I have seen that they made very comedic. When seeing the peach at the beginning waiting to be examined while wearing a hospital gown, I knew it was going to be a great spot. The other very funny part is the play on random drug testing with the "random preservative testing". They showed many things in a humorous way, but also made a good point regarding the quality of their product. I thought it was a very successful campaign and it is now my favorite Snapple ad.
Hill Holliday
I like this because I think the monster looking chip bag IS scary and also because I think it's completely ironic that this is a Dunkin Donut ad. It would be different I think if Jamba Juice or Smoothie King advertised there smoothies this way, because for the most part all the food/snacks sold there are relatively healthy. However, looking around in the Dunkin Donut case you can find a plethora of very scary snacks. In all fairness, the smoothie is probably the healthiest thing they have going for them, but still I find it amusing they would say actually say that in their ad.
Carmichael Lynch
A fish driving a car AND being chased by the cops. Yeah, this is brilliant. It successfully attracts the target audience because people that love fishing (like myself), think it's hilarious seeing fish doing things crazy things. In addition to that, after seeing this I'm sure it attracts people to want to go and lure in a bad fish that has ran from the cops. Right?
Lowe
I had no idea that Lowe made these commercials until doing a little research. I've seen them before and thought they were so funny. I love how they created this idea that this mustard is a "finer pleasure". The best part is the guy's face that is being driven in the black Rolls Royce, when asked by the guy riding in the other Rolls if he has any Grey Poupon. He gives him this look that looks like "of course i do.. what planet are you from?!?" This ad is CLASSIC.
Draftfcb
First seeing this print ad I was confused, but once I read the tagline "milks favorite cookie", it made perfect sense. I think it is so clever for them to show that oreos are so dunkable that they wear snorkel gear. For some reason whenever I see animals or objects (in this case food) in people clothes I think it's the funniest/greatest thing ever! So, for people that know me choosing the goofiest Oreo picture is not a surprise.
TM Advertising
I feel that even though this spot is so silly, we can all relate to being in some weird situation away from home and wanting to jump on the next flight back. In these situation you are most likely to be with relatives or co-workers. Overall I thought this ad was very entertaining and most recent American Airlines spots I have seen have not been funny like this one, so I thought it was a good move for them to give us something to laugh about.
McCann Erickson San Francisco
Where would we all be right now if we didn't have Microsoft software? It is used EVERYWHERE and imagining how we would ever manage going through school without the Microsoft tools like Word, Powerpoint, Excel, is crazy. I think that this print ad is trying to say that Microsoft provides us with tools that help express our idea and let us succeed, in whatever it is that we want to pursue.
The Martin Agency
I have always loved the Geico Gecko spots, it is my favorite ad that Geico does by far ( WAY better than the cavemen). The whole idea of a Gecco business man with an Australian accent is hilarious, and this is just one of many of his spots that I love watching. This one in particular is not even focusing on a service of the insurance, instead a ringtone! That's is how awesome the gecko has become, he can talk about something unrelated to the product and it's still great.
I did a little research on this ad before posting it, and found out how cool it was! VW was having a 72 hr sales promotion, that entailed media coverage and ads in the paper, but what they did differently than most was add in what looked to be a hand written scribble to the top of the ad saying it was the last day of the sale. The sale was a huge success, VW aimed at selling 800 cars, but instead sold 2000 during the sale. I thought that including "the scribble" was such a unique and strategic way of getting the message across.
Y&R: Buenos Aires
The spanish in this ad says, "that usa jeans are so tight they complicate the use of the pockets." I think that what they mean by this is that converse shoes can be worn with anything, regardless of fashion trends. Y & R is taking a bit of a risk with these print ads because in my opinion people consider shoes to be trendy and fashionable and these ads are in a way saying that they aren't.
Ogilvy and Mather: Beijing
I thought this commercial was great. It was a funny how they depicted the Razor phone as super sharp razor able to cut through apartment floors and an entire car. I know that it isn't hard to come up with simple play on words, but producing it at such a level makes the commercial incredible.
JWT: NY
This reminded me SO much of the monster.com commercial with the stork. Anyways, I thought it was adorable showing the lonely rubber ducky! Diaper ( or diaper related) commercials are usually a baby waddling around in a diaper and the mother chasing after, so it was nice to see something different.
BBDO takes a very new approach for advertising chewing gum. The two other gum campaigns that stick out in my mind are the Wrigley's Double Mint commercials and the Orbit "Dirty Mouth" commercials, which are generally light-hearted and fun spots to watch. Clearly, Wrigley's Five gum is different than these, providing an experience similar to indoor skydiving (..?). It looks exciting to me!
DDB Chicago
DDB shows us another hilarious Bud Light commercial to follow the "Swear Jar". What I really like about these beer commercials is that they attract there target market with humor, but with what I think is a slightly more sophisticated level of humor. With this type of "funny" they attract there usual market as well as females and possibly older clientele as well because it isn't the typical "college boy" scene found in most beer commercials.
TBWA/Chiat/Day
Watching this spot for the first time I was utterly confused on what was going on until the very end. I enjoyed the creativity of the different kinds of "cushions". From the bouncy balls to the tires and the trampoline to many others. They were all different objects, but had the a similar element in common. The use of those really gave the audience the "ohhh now it makes sense" moment which I think makes the commercial more appreciated in general.
Goodby Silverstein
In this Sprint ad Goodby compares the power and capabilities of a Sprint phone to a futuristic device by being "Ahead". The flashlight animation used in this spot is what I find to be the most noticeable and appealing quality of the ad. The art direction, use of colors, and speed of scenery is also entertaining to watch. Most importantly it is the little extra that provides the commercial with the "imagination factor." Without this it would just be another ad of someone announcing to switch to their cell phone provider because it's better in some way. This ad illustrates a story in a while that excites and attracts the market in a positive way by sparking curiosity in the product.
GSD&M Idea City
I am a loyal Southwest Airlines customer, because of the great deals, no charge for bags, and no assigned seats rule. This commercial focuses on the fact that bags "fly free" on Southwest, which on other airlines can be a huge expense. GSD&M played on the fact that they walk through a jet tunnel, similarly like football players walk through a tunnel to play a game. This spot ran during football season, making it much more relevant at that time.
Dieste Harmel & Partners San Francisco
Dieste presents this advertisement in a light-hearted, cheerful manner. The fun animation is fun to watch see where the story was going. I think that it also effectively attracts the target market, by showing the young boy (that is the most likely to get dirty and need to use Clorox used on clothes) talking with his mother (the actual user of the product)
Latin Works Super Bowl XLII
The work Latin Works does for Bud Light does not impress me very much. The strategy of this ad is typical to the usual Bud Light work I have seen before, get the beer to get the girl. Nothing new. However what I suppose does make this different is that they play the race card WAY to much, to the point where it is borderline inappropriate.
3 Worst I think it is self evident why this is in the worst category. This superbowl spot is difficult for me to watch. To me, there really is no one good thing about it and I'm not sure why a company would invest money in the production of this.
This may be a biased opinion coming from a person who LOATHES Taco Bell, but I cannot stand watching this commercial. Listening to Charles Barkley trying to sing is painful along with the words and rhythm of the song just make me want to plug my ears.
This scares me. I'm afraid next time I open my doritos they are going to fly out at me like ninja stars. So, I wouldn't say this is godaddy status bad, but it's deffinently nothing I would ever want to see again.
3 Best
I found this to be one of the only really funny commercials during the Superbowl."I will carry your lip balm" is deffinently the best line in the spot.
This isn't necessarily a great commercial, but you cannot help laughing at these chickens. I think the fact that I am putting this as one of the best ads from Superbowl 2010 says a lot of the quality of ads that were shown...
I think we can all agree this is THE best superbowl ad. By having a story, it gave the commercial much more depth and grabbed interest in a modest way. It also portrays Google as a friend who is always there to help out, unlike most products or company's that want you to spend money.
First off, I love the colors. It may just be me, but my eyes are always drawn to bright colors. The leaf/tree design is also really interesting to look at, as it blossoms from the small roots at the bottom. Unfortunately, the image is too small to see clearly, but in some of the leaves you can see a person playing an instrument which is used in promoting the client, Music Society.
PIRATES
Agency: DDB San Francisco
Out of all the ads I chose, this one is my favorite. The music is amazing and makes me feel like I'm watching Pirates of the Caribbean! It also was able to capture the little boy's imagination perfectly. There were fish flying around like birds, and people stacked on each other were taking the place of battle ships. Everything about that scene was simply beautiful.
PEACOCK
Agency:BBDO New York
I mostly like this ad because it looks just like a painting that takes up almost an entire side of the building. A nice change from grafitti.
BREATHTAKING MONTENEGRO
Agency: Luna/TBWA, Belgrade, Serbia
The only thing I know about Montenegro is that it looks AWESOME. Is there anything this country doesn't have? There beautiful mountains for winter sports, crystal clear beachs, forests to go mountain biking, and an entertaining night life! The music gives the commercial an extra touch. At first you hear an opera voice, which sounds like you're entering heaven, and then at the end you hear a more european sound, which I'm guessing is local to the country.
J-POWER:ENVIRONMENT
Agency: Dentsu Japan
When I watch this I feel like I'm looking into a high-tech kaleidoscope. The images jump at you from the screen and they're very bright and clear. The music is also fun and upbeat, which matches the motions well.
